Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah’s murder suspect dies in Chittagong jail

A suspect in the murder of Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah has died in Chittagong Central Jail.

The deceased is Moulovi Zakaria, 53, the son of the late Abdul Karim of Block D/8 in Rohingya camp of Ukhiya upazila in the Cox’s Bazar district.

Zakaria, a cancer patient, was died on Friday night, according to Chittagong Jail’s Deputy Jailer Monir Hossain.

Mohib Ullah, a leader of the Rohingya people, was shot dead on September 29, 2021, at his workplace.

In March of this year, Zakaria was detained on suspicion of being the brains behind the murder of Mohibullah.

On September 11, charges were brought against 29 defendants to begin the murder trial.
