Fire at container depot in Chittagong, 10 units of fire service are working in fire control

A fire broke out at a container depot in Sitakunda, Chittagong and containers exploded. 10 units of fire service are working in fire control.

The fire broke out at the BM container depot at Bhatiari in the upazila around 11pm on Saturday (June 4). Fire information has been confirmed from the Agrabad control branch of the fire service.

Newton Dash, deputy assistant director of the fire service, told the media that six vehicles from three units of the fire service were trying to control the fire after receiving reports of a fire at the BM container depot. Later seven more units went there and started working on fire control.

The fire was initially thought to have spread faster due to chemicals contained in the container’s explosion, according to the fire service.

The container depot is said to have contained various cargo containers for import and export.
