Kanak Sarwar’s sister Nusrat on 5 days remand

Nusrat Shahrin Raka, sister of US-based controversial expatriate journalist Kanak Sarwar, on a 5-day remand for questioning in two separate cases.

The order was passed by the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court on Wednesday. This information was confirmed by Sub-Inspector (SI) of Crime and Investigation Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Liakat Hossain .

Nusrat Shahrin was arrested with drugs from Uttara area of ​​the capital on Monday night, RAB said. Later, two separate cases were filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act and the Digital Security Act at the Uttara West Police Station in the capital.

Uttara West police produced Nusrat Shahrin in a Dhaka court on Wednesday with a 14-day remand plea.

Chief Public Prosecutor of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court Abdullah Abu argued in favor of remand from the state.

He told the court that the accused Nusrat Shahrin had been using digital media to spread false, provocative statements about the government and important people of the government. Her brother Kanak Sarwar has been living abroad and spreading various anti-government provocative statements. It is important to remand the accused and interrogate him to unravel the mystery of the incident.

However, the court was informed by the accused that a fake ID has been opened in the name of Nusrat Shahrin. She made a general diary at the police station on September 27. She is not involved in the incident. After hearing the statements of both the parties, the court allowed Nusrat Shahrin to be remanded for three days in the Digital Security Act case and for two days in the drug case.
