‘Black Adam,’ with Dwayne Johnson, debuts with $67M

According to studio estimates, “Black Adam” debuted with an estimated US$67 million on Sunday, giving Dwayne Johnson his best box office weekend as a lead actor. To debut the D.C. Comics character, he struggled for ten years to bring to the big screen.

“Black Adam” managed the highest opening weekend since “Thor: Love and Thunder” debuted with $143 million in July.

“Black Adam,” starring Johnson as an Egyptian brought to the present, was notably hobbled by poor reviews.

The movie received a B+ CinemaScore from viewers. For a total global revenue of $140 million, it brought roughly $73 million internationally.

In the case of “Black Adam,” the stakes were higher. Johnson hasn’t been shy about his desire to follow up “Black Adam” with a battle with Superman when marketing the movie.
