Only qualified institutions will get MPO facilities: Dipu Moni

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni today said the Monthly Payment Order (MPO) facilities will be provided without any recommendation to those educational institutions that have fulfilled the criteria set in the policy.

“Only eligible and qualified institutions, according to the policy, will be brought under MPO coverage without any kind of recommendation and those who failed to meet the conditions of the policy will not be included in the scheme in any way,” said the education minister. Report BSS

She was addressing as the chief guest at a program, marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of the country’s independence at Uttar Bangla College (UBC) in Kakina village of Lalmonirhat’s Kaliganj upazila.

It is not possible to nationalize all secondary educational institutions without conducting prior research, she said, adding, “If researches suggest nationalizing educational institutions to improve the quality of education, nationalization will be done based on financial capacity.”

Otherwise, it is not possible to nationalize all secondary schools as the main goal of this education-friendly government is to improve the quality of education, she added.

Dipu Moni said, “We have been able to bring everyone into education and the rate of dropping out students from schools has decreased significantly. We are working relentlessly to improve the quality of education.”

“We want to build students as skilled and good people by increasing their skills on all subjects and areas, not just providing education,” she added.

The minister said, “On the occasion of birth centenary of Bangabandhu and the golden jubilee of the country, I can firmly say that Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina and her government is education and teacher-friendly government which is working for financial security of teachers and education sector.”

Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed presided over the program, while National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M Mashiur Rahman addressed as a special guest on the occasion.

Deputy Commissioner of Lalmonirhat Abu Zafor, Zila Parishad Chairman Motiur Rahman, Founder of the college Dr Mojammel Hoque and College principal Abdur Rauf, among others, also addressed the program.
