Gaffar Chowdhury’s body likely to arrive in Dhaka next week
The body of prominent writer and columnist Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury – best known for writing the lyrics of “Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano” – is likely to arrive in Dhaka next week.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem said, “After the completion of required procedures, we will send his body to Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight next week.”
Now, the body of Gaffar Chowdhury has been preserved at the Barnet Hospital in London where he, 88, breathed his last on Thursday, according to a press release from Bangladesh High Commission in London received here today.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held on Friday after Jummah prayers at the Brick Lane Mosque in East London.
After that, Gaffar Chowdhury’s body will be taken to Shaheed Altaf Ali Park where people from all walks of life will turn up to pay their last respects to him.
