Porimoni is going to appear in court

Popular  Dhallywood actress Porimoni going to court today to appear in the case of Narcotics Control Act filed at Banani Police Station in the capital.

Porimoni confirmed the matter  in a facebook post. She would appear in court between 9:30 am and 10:00 am.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court Public Prosecutor (PP) Tapash Kumar Pal told  that a hearing is scheduled for today take cognizance of the chargesheet filed against three people, including actress Porimoni, in the drug case. On October 13, the case was transferred to the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court. The court later fixed October 26 (today) for hearing on the chargesheet in the case.

Pori Moni appears in court

The other two accused in the case are Ashraful Islam and Kabir Hossain. All three, including Porimoni are out on bail.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayes will take into account the charge sheet.

Earlier, the case was sent to the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court on October 12 as it was ready for trial. The next day, on October 13, the court fixed October 26 for taking into account of the charge sheet.

Pari Moni is going to appear in court

On October 4, the investigating officer of the case, CID inspector Kazi Mostafa Kamal, filed a charge sheet against three including Pori Moni. The other two accused in this case are Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain.

According to the charge sheet of the case, there were no valid documents to Pori Moni for the positioning of drugs.

The CID has been informed in writing by the Department of Narcotics Control that in the financial year 2019-20, a license was given to consume alcoholic beverages in the name of Pori Moni. The license expired on June 30 last year. Pori Moni had collected illegal drugs from different places through two accused Ashraful Islam and Kabir Hossain and kept them at home. She could not give a satisfactory answer about drug possession. Pori Moni used her car to carry drugs.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) had arrested Pori Moni and Ashraful Islam on 4 August when they raided her apartment in Banani in the capital city. RAB filed a case with the Gulshan police station against Pori Moni in the incident, under the Narcotics Control Act. The charges mentioned 19 bottles of foreign liquor and 4 grams of the narcotic substance ‘ice’ had been recovered from her apartment.

The next day, on August 5, RAB filed a case against Pori Moni and her accomplice Bipu under the Narcotics Control Act at the Banani Police Station. On the same day, the court granted remand to Pori Moni and her associates for four days.

On August 10, Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas granted police two more days to grill Pori Moni.On August 19, for the third time, Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam granted another one-day in remand for the actress.

Following the High Court’s intervention, another Dhaka court finally granted her bail on September 1 and she walked out of jail the next day.

On August 29, one Ain o Salish Kendra lawyer filed a petition before the High Court seeking an order on the legality of taking Pori Moni in multiple remands in the case defying an earlier order of the Supreme Court.

On September 2, the High Court asked the two lower court judges to explain why they had accepted the police request to remand the actress multiple times in the narcotics case.

On September 15, the High Court expressed dissatisfaction over the explanations submitted by the two judges and set September 29 for the next hearing.
