Inauguration of Padma Bridge by next June: Bridges Minister

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has announced the inauguration of the Padma Bridge by next June. He made the announcement on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 75th birthday on Tuesday morning at a function to distribute prayers and Quran Sharif on the banks of the Padma in Naria, Shariatpur. He was virtually involved in the event.

Speaking as the chief guest, Obaidul Quader said, “I am giving a happy news to the people on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s birthday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Padma Bridge by next June. The World Bank withdrew from the Padma Bridge and made false allegations of corruption. But the transparency and honesty of Sheikh Hasina’s government has been proved in the court of the world. Sheikh Hasina’s courageous step has built a bridge of pride on the chest of Padma today”.

Obaidul Quader expressed his gratitude to the people of Shariatpur for giving up their land for the Padma Bridge. He also asked the people on the banks of the Padma, who are affected by river erosion, to have confidence in Sheikh Hasina.

The Naria Upazila Awami League organized the event on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s birthday on the banks of the Padma River in Naria. Shariatpur-2 MP and Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Haque Shamim presided over the function. Shariatpur-3 MP Nahim Razzak, District Council Chairman Sabedur Rahman Khoka Sikder, Deputy Commissioner Md. Parvez Hasan, Superintendent of Police Ashrafuzzaman, District Awami League General Secretary Anol Kumar Dey, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram Mosque Mizanur Rahman and others were present.
