No motorbikes likely on Padma Bridge before Eid: official

About the withdrawal of the ban on plying motorbikes on the Padma Bridge, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam hinted at “no possibility” of this happening before Eid-ul-Azha.

“First we have to install artificial intelligence security cameras and speed guns. Then we will make a decision on motorcycles. But I do not think it will happen before Eid,” he said after a cabinet meeting on Sunday.

The Padma Bridge megastructure opened to traffic on Jun 26. Thousands flocked to the bridge on the first day to catch a glimpse.

Earlier on 27 June, motorcycles were banned on Padma Bridge a day after two youths on motorcycle died in an accident on the bridge.
