South Korean military apologized for botched missile launch

After a botched missile launch during a joint rehearsal with the US caused panic among residents of Gangneung, a coastal city, consequently, the South Korean military apologized.

That night, they reported having seen fire and experienced an explosion.

Although there were no injuries, according to the military, they didn’t recognize the event for another seven hours.

North Korea had earlier on Tuesday morning launched a missile over Japan, preceding the launch.

This was Pyongyang’s first missile launch over Japan since 2017, and it sparked military drills by the US, Japan, and South Korea as a show of force. Additionally, Seoul and Washington launched a barrage of missiles into the East Sea, sometimes referred to as the Sea of Japan.
