Jaya Ahsan to receive ‘Pranobik Bondhu’ award

For the first time in Bangladesh, The People for Animal Welfare (PAW), an organization working with animal lovers, is going to give the award. And Jaya Ahsan is at the top of that list. Atiqul Islam, the mayor of Dhaka North, also presented the names of 10 people including animal rescuers, doctors and organizers.

The winners were announced on Monday (October 4th) as World Animal Day.

Dhallywood popular actress Jaya Ahsan’s love for animals is unconditional and this time the actress is got the return of that love in recognition of the unconditional love and support of animals.

PAW is an organisation, which intends to host the award programme every year henceforth, honoured 10 people from all walks of life working with animals. According to the foundation, this is the first time such an event is being organised in Bangladesh. The winners list has announce at the programme to animal lovers.

DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam, rescue worker Md Abu Bakar Siddik, Sudha Rani, Gracy Puspita Sarkar, veterinarian Dr Fatiha Emnoor Eima, journalist Probir Kumar Sarker, veterinary teacher Prof Nitish Chandra Debnath, public health expert Dr Be-Nazir Ahmed, and forest official Mollah Rezaul Karim were also in the list.

However, due to the Covid-19 situation and limited time, PAW Foundation will hold the prize-giving ceremony in November.

“There are so many people out there who work effortlessly for animal welfare. However, they always remain unnoticed, It is our little effort in appreciation of those people who are selflessly involved and contribute to the animal welfare movement,” PAW Foundation said.

Meanwhile, Jaya is overwhelmed by PAW’s initiative. In her words, ‘I am being rewarded, joy is not for that at all. Rather the joy is, for this extraordinary initiative. It will inspire animal-lovers. I believe that it will play a big role in creating living people. I myself have never worked for animals to get anything. What I have done, from my own joy and inner tension. Thank you to all concerned. Keep up the good work.’

Incidentally, Jaya Ahsan openly claims her pet Cleopatra (Sarmey) as her own sister. Apart from this, this  popular actress of the two Bengalis, has been working for the helpless and sick animals and birds for 12 months. At the lockdown, she made her own food for street dogs and cats and served it down the street. She  also wrote about the mismanagement of the livestock market in the thorn forest of the capital.

World Animal Day, celebrated on October 4, is an international day of action for animal rights and welfare and also known as the feast day of Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and ecology.
