After comeback: The Spice Girls are said to have split up again
According to a report by the British “Sun”, the Spice Girls are said to have split up again. The new tour was already planned. But now everything seems to be different.
“I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want,” the Spice Girls sang on their debut single Wannabe from 1996. But it looks like it’s not the band they really want anymore.
An insider now told the British newspaper “The Sun”: “Everything was going great – but then Corona came and took the momentum out.”
Geri Horner is now talking about “new TV things”, Emma Bunton takes care of TV and radio projects “and the two Mels are concentrating on their own things”. The plans for another tour with appearances in Australia and for a joint film are therefore only once on hold.
The Spice Girls were one of the most successful girl bands of the 90’s, if not the most successful. They have sold more than 85 million records to date. They have broken up five times in their band history.
2018 was the last reunion. the associated tour took place in 2019. Geri Horner and Mel B are said to have been the driving forces behind the group. However, Victoria Beckham was absent from the tour. She preferred to devote herself to her family and her fashion label. The remaining four Spice Girls performed in front of around 700,000 fans at 13 concerts in the UK and Ireland. They earned the equivalent of almost 95 million euros.
A sixth reunion is therefore not entirely unlikely. Maybe in a few years they’ll be making music together again and recording a new album. In any case, it cannot be ruled out. An official statement from the band is missing for the time being. Until then, fans should listen to the band’s classics like Spice Up Your Life, Who Do You Think You Are and Say You’ll Be There for comfort.
