Momen visits Payra port

A delegation of foreign ministry led by foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen visited Payra port to give a firsthand idea to the officials so that they can project efficiency and modern services of the port in the international arena.

The delegation comprised with state minister for foreign affairs Md Shahriar Alam, foreign secretary Masud Bin Momen, secretaries, director generals and directors visited the under construction port on Saturday, a foreign ministry press release said.

During the visit, Dr Momen hoped that the port officials and staff will work sincerely to ensure modern services as like other modern ports in the world.

The government has decided to build the Payra port with capacity of handling 50 ships per day to ease pressure from the Chittagong and Mongla ports. On November 19 in 2013, the construction work of the port was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
