BNP demands Khaleda’s treatment abroad
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) demanded that the government should allow its chairperson Khaleda Zia to go abroad immediately for advanced treatment.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the party’s standing committee made the demand reviewing the media reports on ailing former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
He said that the head of Khaleda Zia’s medical team, AFM Siddique, informed them that Khaleda recovered from Covid-19 but she is suffering from post-Covid complications.
Fakhrul also said that the doctor also informed him that Khaleda was not out of danger.
‘She needs to be taken abroad for better treatment for liver and other complications,’ Fakhrul said.
On June 19, Khaleda returned home from a city hospital after some health workers at the hospital had contracted the delta variant of Covid-19, said her doctor.
