Typhoon Chanthu is heading towards China at a speed of 170 kmph
Typhoon Chanthu is approaching Shanghai, China. Flight, school, subway and train services have already been canceled in coastal areas. This was reported by Reuters in a report on Monday (September 13).
It is said that the wind speed in the center of the typhoon is now more than 160 kilometers. The storm lost momentum and turned from a super typhoon into a powerful typhoon. The Shanghai authorities hope it will be further weakened.
Preparations have been made for an emergency response in Zhejiang province near Shanghai. Flights have been canceled and schools closed in several cities. Authorities have issued red alerts for flash floods in nine districts of the province. The port of Ningbo, China’s second-largest container transport hub after Shanghai, has been closed since Sunday afternoon.
