BNP leaders like the movement in the streets

The central leaders of the BNP are in favor of giving movement program in the streets. They said the movement should force the government to form an election-neutral government and an acceptable election commission.

This government has to leave before the next election. Besides, many have suggested to organize the party and prepare for the parliamentary elections from now on.

On the first day of the series meeting with the BNP high command on Tuesday, the central leaders raised these issues. The meeting started at 4 pm at the Chairperson’s office in Gulshan.

It took about five hours. The meeting was presided over by the acting chairman of the party Tareq Rahman. He joined virtually from London.

According to meeting sources, what should the BNP do in the current situation, what should be the strategy of the movement, what needs to be done to make the field level organization more active, Leaders give their opinion on these issue.

Several members who participated in the meeting told  that most of the participants gave opinion to make an ‘all-out movement plan’ because there was no hope of fair election under any partisan government.

They said that massive movement was the only way to achieve a non-party election time government and an acceptable election commission.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir along with standing committee members participated in the meeting to take opinions of the party’s vice chairmen and the chairperson’s advisers about strengthening the party’s organisational capacity.

BNP organising secretary Syed Emran Saleh Prince told reporters that a total of 62 vice-chairmen and advisers participated in the meeting.

BNP policymakers will hold a meeting with the party’s senior joint secretaries general, secretaries general, organising secretaries and assistant organising secretaries on Wednesday and another with leaders of different associate bodies on Thursday.

BNP formed a 502-member national executive committee, including 35 vice chairmen, through its sixth national council session on March 19, 2016.

There are 74 members in the advisory council.
