5G is being launched in December

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar has said that preparations for the launch of 5G in Bangladesh are progressing at a fast pace. He also said that the official inauguration will be held in the middle of December, i.e. on 12 or 16 December.

He made the remarks at a webinar titled ‘FiveG Ecosystem in Bangladesh and Upcoming Technologies’ at noon on Saturday (September 25). The event was organized by Telecom Reporters Network Bangladesh (TRNB), an organization of telecom and technology journalists.

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications said, “It is not like we are launching 5G in a hurry or very quickly with a decision.” We have been preparing for a long time. I can’t say on what date 5G will be launched, but there are many festival days in December, one of which will be launched.

The minister said the company is ready to ensure that FiveG services are well received. He said work is underway to provide 5G network in five economic zones. We have many partners and we are thinking about them. All in all, we have all kinds of preparations. The needs and demands of the people are being given importance around 5G.

Chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Shyam Sundar Sikder highlighted various preparations and plans and said that a meeting has already been held with the mobile manufacturer. Mobile operators and tower operators have been contacted with BTRC.

BTRC Commissioner AKM Shahiduzzaman, Teletalk Managing Director Sahab Uddin, Banglalink CEO and Chairman Mtob Eric Os, Grameenphone CEO Yasir Ajman, Robi Acting CEO, Riaz Rashid and many others took part in the discussion.

TRNB General Secretary Sameer Kumar Dey presented the keynote address. TRNB President Rashed Mehedi was present on the occasion.
