Impeccable media in life and nation building : Information Minister

The media is able to play a very important role in the formation of life and nation, said the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Dr. Hasan Mahmud.

The minister was speaking at the launch of Channel I Television’s 23rd year of broadcasting at the Impress Group office in the capital’s Tejgaon on Friday morning.

Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzak, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak, eminent musician Farida Parveen, Sadi Mohammad, Channel I Director Sheikh Siraj and other members of the channel were present on the occasion. Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director of Channel I, delivered the welcome address on the online program.

Congratulating Channel I before cutting the cake, the Information Minister said that Channel I is one of the examples of life and nation building.

Channel I has been working for the last 22 years to reach the dream address of Bangabandhu with the spirit of Bangladesh and Liberation War in its heart and I hope it will continue in the future as well, said Dr. Hasan.

Later, in accordance with the law, the implementation of the ad-free or cleanfeed broadcasting of foreign TV channels, as announced earlier, in the context of the ongoing mobile court, Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud said, In the context of not running foreign TV Cleanfeed, thousands of crores of Taka which used to be invested in the country, are invested in foreign channels. If advertisements were not shown on foreign channels in violation of the law, the country’s media industry would have benefited, that is, the country’s economy would have benefited.

The country’s economy, artists, industry, culture and media industry are being harmed due to the lack of clean feed, that’s why we have taken this step, said Dr. Hasan.

Replying to a question on OTT platform, the Information Minister said, “A policy on OTT platform is being formulated and the draft has been completed.” If the policy is passed, the platforms will have to follow it and if there is any breach, action will be taken according to the law.
