Jatiya Party new secretary general is Mujibul Haque Chunnu

The party’s co-chairman Mujibul Haque (Chunnu) became the general secretary of the Jatiya Party (JPA). Japa Chairman GM Quader appointed him as Secretary General on Saturday afternoon.

The post of Secretary General of Japa became vacant with the death of Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu.

Jatiya Party Additional Secretary General and Presidium Member Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan confirmed the matter .

On Saturday (October 9), party chairman GM Quader announced the name of Mujibul Haque Chunnu as the party’s secretary general. This order will be effective from 9 October 2021 with the power given by sub-section 20/1 (1) a of the constitution of the Jatiya Party.

It may be mentioned that the Secretary General of of the party Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu died on October 2 while undergoing treatment after he was infeted with Covid-19 at a private hospital in the capital.

There is talk that party chairman GM Quader wanted to appoint Shamim Haider Patwari, a young MP from the party, as secretary general. But senior leaders took a stand against it. Japar’s chairman later resigned.

According to party sources, in addition to Mujibul Haque, two former party secretaries general Ruhul Amin Hawlader and Moshiur Rahman and Dhaka MP Syed Abu Hossain, additional secretary generals Shahidur Rahman and Shamim Haider Patwari and former presidium member Golam Mosi have expressed interest in becoming secretary general.

But no one speaks directly of his own interest and tries in various ways. In the end, however, Japa chairman GM Quader chose Mujibul Haque.

Mujibul Haque is an MP from Kishoreganj-3 constituency. He is also the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Labor and Employment. He was the state minister for labor and employment in the Awami League-led grand alliance government.
