Prime Minister and Information Minister mourn the death of Actor Enamul Haque

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep grief over the death of Ekushey Medal-winning actor, playwrighter, director and teacher Dr. Enamul Haque.

In a condolence message on Monday, the Prime Minister said Enamul Haque’s contribution to Drama & Theater will be memorable. The Prime Minister prayed for the forgiveness of the soul of the deceased and conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.

He died at the hospital on Monday (October 12th) at noon. Actor Litu Anam, daughter-in-law of  Dr. Enamul Haque, has confirmed the matter.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud also  expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Enamul Haque.

In his condolence message on the news of Enamul Haque’s demise on Monday afternoon, the mourning minister said, “The death of this talented playwrighter is an irreparable loss for the country.” He prayed for the forgiveness of the soul of the deceased and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members of the deceased.

Enamul Haque was born on May 29 in 1943 in Feni. He completed his Bachelor and Masters in chemistry in 1963 and 1964 respectively from the University of Dhaka.

He joined the department of chemistry of BUET in 1965 as a lecturer. He earned his Ph.D. degree from the University of Manchester in 1976 in the field of synthetic organic chemistry.

Haque debuted in acting with the tele-fiction “Mukhora Romoni Boshikoron”, produced by Mustafa Monwar in 1968. His most famous works include “Sheishob Dingulo”, “Oneekdiner Ekdin”, “Nirjon Shoikot”, and “Ke Ba Apon Ke Ba Por”.

He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2012.
