Bangladesh to directly play Super 12s in 2022 T20 World Cup

According to ICC rules, the top eight teams in the rankings at the end of the ongoing T20 World Cup will be directly involved in the 2022 World Cup in Australia. But this time Bangladesh dropped to No. 9 in the rankings as they did not win a single match in the World Cup. In this situation, the fear arises again to play the first round or qualifying round.

However, that fear has been removed. Bangladesh team got the benefit following West Indies loss to Australia. The West Indies have slipped from eight to 10th in the T20 rankings following their two consecutive defeat to Sri Lanka and Australia. In this opportunity, Bangladesh has risen to eight in the T20 rankings.

That means Bangladesh will play in the 2022 T20 World Cup directly in the Super Twelve stage. West Indies will have to play in the first round. Sri Lanka will also have to play in the first round in Australia this time. Scotland and Namibia will also play in the first round of the next World Cup.

The ICC has already said that to play in the Super Twelve of the 2022 T20 World Cup, one has to be in the top eight of the T20 rankings by November 15. Bangladesh was able to avoid the preliminary round for the first time as it was in the top eight in the T20 rankings even after their failure in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

The West Indies dropped to No. 10th places after losing to Australia today and now have 226 rating points. Bangladesh has risen to number eight with 234 rating points.

Not only Bangladesh but also Afghanistan has benefited from the loss of the West Indies. The Afghans are at number seven with 234 points.

Afghanistan will play their last match in this World Cup tomorrow against New Zealand. But Mohammad Nabi’s side will be able to play the World Cup directly as they are in the top eight.

The other teams to play directly in the main stage in Australia World Cup are England, Pakistan, India, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
