Govt urges to celebrate X-mass, 31st night on limited scale

The government has urged all concerned for celebrating the Christmas on December 25 and December 31st night on limited scale following health guidelines strictly due to COVID-19 pandemic situation.

On the occasion of Christmas and 31st night, the home ministry issued a letter on law and order situation recently.

In the letter, all concerned have been quested to arrange religious, social and cultural programmes marking the Christmas and 31st night on a very limited scale following the health guidelines strictly and avoid public meetings.

It said that law enforcement agencies held meetings and discussions with the concerned people in the upazila, district, divisional and metropolitan city areas to ensure health guidelines strictly.

The law enforcers will also ensure security and keep vigilance across the country during the X-mass, the 31st night of English New Year.

The letter has recently been sent by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Inspector General of Police, Divisional Commissioner, Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Range DIG, Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, President/Secretary General of Bangladesh Christian Association.

The letter said that every year, the biggest religious festival of the Christian community -‘Happy Christmas’ – is celebrated on 25th December with due religious fervor and enthusiasm.

At the same time, in the midnight of the English New Year –31st night — festivals are organized in different places.

However, due to the prevailing Corona situation, all religious, social ceremonies and public gatherings around the world are being celebrated domestically on limited manner following the health rules, it added.
