Practice of poetry can help building enlightened society: Information Minister
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said that practice of poetry and poem recitation with the spirit of Liberation War can help building an enlightened society.
The minister was addressing the function of poems recitation named ‘Ucchokonthe Uccharo Aj Manush Mahian’ at Chithrashala auditorium of Shilpakala Academy in the capital.
Bangladesh Abrithi Shilpi Sangsad organized the function while eminent artiste Subarna Mustafa, MP, inaugurated it through lightning candles along with others guests.
Dr.Hasan said the country’s independence was achieved in exchange of bloods of the people of all faiths to build a non-communal state out of the Pakistani communal state system. But it is a matter of great regret that the society had moved away far in many cases from the spirit through which the country had achieved the independence, he added.
The minister said there is no alternative to practice of culture in establishing the spirit of the Liberation War. And recitation of poems and practice of poetry encourage the people to become more civilized, he added.
Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, informed that two programmes on poetry are being aired at BTV, Chattogram center in every month.
With Bangladesh Abrithi Shilpi Sangsad Joyanta Chattapaddhya in the chair, Shilpakala Academy director general Liakat Ali lucky, BTRC chairman and poet Shaymsundar Sikdar, eminent artist Ataur Rahman and cultural personality M Hamid, among others, addressed the function.
Later, in a message, the minister congratulated Bangladesh Under-19 Women Football team for becoming champion in SAFF Under-19 Football championship by defeating India 1-0 goal.
