President and PM mourns deaths in Jhalakathi launch fire

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the loss of lives and injuries to passengers in Jhalakathi launch fire.

In a condolence message, the head of the state prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

President Hamid also prayed for early recovery of the injured people.

In a message of condolence, Prime minister Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls of the deceased and early recovery of those injured in the launch fire.

The Prime Minister conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Barguna-bound launch ‘MV Ovijan 10’ from Dhaka, with over 300 passengers onboard, caught fire in the Dapdapiya area of the Sugandha river in Jhalakathi around 3am today (Friday), leaving at least 39 passengers dead and more than 100 injured.
