Govt working to control spread of Covid-19: Health Minister
The Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today said the government is working to contain the spread of Covid-19 as the number of cases of the deadly virus is increasing gradually.
“We have to follow the directives set by the National Technical Advisory Committee on COVID-19 to take effective steps for protecting people from the deadly virus,” the minister said while distributing winter clothes among the cold-hit distressed people of Manikganj Sadar Upazila and Saturia Upazila at the Shuvro Center at Garpara, here.
The health minister said peoples’ movement by public transports will be restricted, if the rising trend of COVID-19 continues.
He said shops and shopping malls will remain closed after 8 pm and nobody will be allowed to enter hotels and restaurants without COVID-19 vaccination certificates.
Maleque said the government has also set a target to vaccinate people with 28 crore COVID-19 vaccine shots including booster dose.
Collection process for 31 crore vaccine doses is underway, he said, adding, “The country is getting adequate quantity of vaccines every month.”
To fulfill the target, the government will expand the nationwide vaccination campaign up to ward-level across the country.
With the first and second dose of coronavirus vaccines, over 12 crore people of Bangladesh have so far been inoculated, he added. Of them, seven crore people received first dose of vaccine while five crore people got the
second shot of COVID-19 jabs, Maleque said.
