Army Welfare Trust signs JVA with US Company over solar power project

A Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) has been signed between Bangladesh Army run Army Welfare Trust and Eleris Energy Limited, the USA, for implementing a solar power project.

Army Welfare Trust Managing Director Brigadier General Abul Mansur Md Ashraf Khan and Chief Operating Officer of Eleris Energy Limited Jerry Price signed the JVA on behalf of their respective sides on Thursday at the conference room of the Army Welfare Trust’s head office in Dhaka Cantonment here, said a press release.

Earlier, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Army Welfare Trust and Eleris Energy Limited, USA on August 16 in 2021 for implementing a 1,000 megawatt solar power project at Sandwip in Chittagong.

Under the project, 1,000 megawatt power will be generated in phases with a capacity of 200 megawatt per year in the next five years and it will be supplied to the national grid.

According to the release, this project will play a vital role as a milestone in implementing the “Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan” announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2021 (COP 26) held in Glasgow, Scotland.
