Bangladeshis can go to Poland from Ukraine without visa

Poland has opened visa-free border for expatriate Bangladeshis living in Ukraine in the wake of Ukraine’s ongoing war with Russia. The Bangladesh Embassy in Warsaw, Poland said in a press release on Friday (February 25th). In the morning, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam shared the notification on his Facebook page.

The statement said that the Poland-Ukraine border has been opened without visa for Bangladeshi expatriates. In this case, valid passport holders will be able to enter Poland by showing their passports to the border guards. It also said that those who do not have a passport, they can enter Poland with a travel pass. Every Bangladeshi is requested to keep 2 copies of passport size color photograph. A delegation from the Bangladesh Embassy in Warsaw will leave for the Poland-Ukraine border tomorrow morning. They will provide assistance to Bangladeshis who wish to enter Poland from Ukraine.

The statement said that due to isolated bomb blasts inside Ukraine, insufficient petrol and additional traffic jams along the way, expatriate Bangladeshis stationed in remote areas of the border are being requested to monitor the situation and leave for the border.

On Thursday night (February 24), the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that the Bangladesh government is requesting the Bangladeshi nationals residing in Ukraine to move to a safer place and if necessary to Poland.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh has maintained close coordination with the Bangladesh Embassy in Poland. The government is providing all possible assistance for the immediate repatriation of stranded Bangladeshis to Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Embassy in Warsaw has already been strengthened with additional manpower to streamline the repatriation process. All types of consular assistance are provided free of charge.

Meanwhile, the government has instructed the missions of Poland, Romania and Austria to be ready to help the Bangladeshis trapped in the war situation in Ukraine. The directive states that Bangladeshis from Ukraine must provide all kinds of services.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday (February 25th) that the stranded Bangladeshis were trying to escape through Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Moldova. In this situation, the missions are ready for any kind of cooperation.
