Bangladesh missions abroad observe Bangabandhu’s 102nd birth anniversary

Bangladesh missions abroad observed the 102nd birth anniversary of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day-2022 in a befitting manner.

The Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations celebrated the 102nd birth anniversary of Bangabandhu and National Children’s Day-2022 in a befitting manner with the theme ‘Bangabandhu’s Birthday Pledge/ Equal Rights for All Children (Bangabandhur Jonmodiner Ongikar/ Sokol Shishur Odhikar)’, according to a press release, received here today. The programme began with hoisting of the national flag, playing of the national anthem and laying of wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation.

The messages from President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam were read out alongside cutting cake on the occasion.

A special munajat was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of the father of the nation and the martyred members of his family.

A virtual children’s fair was organized with the participation of Bangladeshi children living in New York.

Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations (UN) Ambassador Rabab Fatima said in another programme there that father of nation had done a lot for the protection of equal rights and development of the children.

Besides, the Bangladesh Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil, Bangladesh Consulate General, New York, Bangladesh High Commission, Ottawa, Canada, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Lisbon, Portugal, Consulate General of Bangladesh in Toronto, Canada, Embassy of Bangladesh in Athens, Embassy of Bangladesh in Berlin, Germany, Bangladesh Embassy in Amman, Jordan, Consulate General of Bangladesh in Miami, Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra, Australia, the embassy of Bangladesh in Mexico City and Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan observed the birth centenary of Bangabandhu with solemn dignity, according to messages received here today.

The day-long programmes included hoisting of the national flag and playing the national anthem at the Permanent Mission and Consulate in their respective offices in the morning and placing wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation.

On the occasion of the day, the messages from President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam were read out alongside holding open discussion and cutting birthday cake for Bangabandhu.

Special prayers were offered at the respective offices abroad seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his martyred family members.

On the occasion, High Commissioners and Ambassadors of Bangladesh spoke on the colorful political and struggling life, ideals of Bangabandhu and his role and contribution in building an independent country.

To mark the 102nd birth anniversary of Bangabandhu and the National Children’s Day, drawing and easy writing competitions were organized in these countries and prizes are distributed among the winners alongside screening documentaries on the colorful life and works of Father of Nation.
