People trying to erase Bangabandhu thrown into history’s dustbin: Obaidul Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said people, who wanted to erase the name of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from the history, have been thrown into its dustbin.

He made the remark while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of an arts exhibition titled ‘Joy Bangla Art Camp: Sonar Bangla in Thoughts of the Father’ on the Public Library premises here. Report BSS

Hasumonir Pathshala arranged the exhibition marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and the golden jubilee of the country’s independence.

Obaidul Quader said many hatched conspiracy against Bangabandhu, but those who wanted to remove his name from the history have been thrown into its garbage.

He said children must know about Bangabandhu to advance themselves with the ideals of the Father of the Nation.

About the implementation of mega projects, the road transport and bridges ministry said the Padma Bridge, Metrorail (RMT-6) and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel (Karnaphuli Tunnel) will be inaugurated this year.

He said Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina has shown the world the country’s ability by constructing the Padma Bridge with own funding.

“Not too late, our dream project – Padma Bridge – will be inaugurated within June this year. The Bangabandhu Tunnel will also be opened this year”, he added.

He said the metro rail, a dream project of young generation, will be inaugurated at the same time.

Despite all the things, Quader said, people, who do not see any development work of the government, are blind.

“Bangladesh is a wonder of the world today. This is the reason behind their irritation,” he continued.

Chaired by president of Hasumonir Pathshala and AL central committee member
Marufa Akhter Popy, the function was addressed, among others, chief whip of
Jatiya Sangsad Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury Liton, director general of the
Department of Public Library Abubakar Siddique and painter Shahabuddin Ahmed.
Later, Quader visited the art exhibition.

Earlier, chief whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury inaugurated the event by releasing
balloons.
