Eidul Fitr in Saudi Arabia: Court calls for Shawwal moon sighting tomorrow

RIYADH/DUBAI: The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has called on Muslims throughout the Kingdom to sight the Shawwal moon on the eve of 29th Ramadan 1443 AH which falls on Saturday, the Saudi gazetted reported.

A statement issued by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that the Saudi apex court urged people to report to the nearest court and register testimony in case they spot the crescent of Shawwal either with the naked eye or through binoculars.

Meanwhile, Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Sheikh Dr Abdullatif Bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh directed all the authorities concerned to make arrangements to host Eid prayers at all mosques and outdoor praying halls.

The Eid prayers will be offered 15 minutes after sunrise on whichever day Eid falls as per the Umm Al-Qura calendar.

Moreover, Saudi Arabia will observe four days of Eid holidays, starting Sunday, both for private and non-profit sectors.
