Muhith was cent percent honest politician: Obaidul Quader

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said deceased former Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith was a cent percent honest politician and a workaholic person who was successful both as a finance minister and an economist.

He said this to journalists after paying tributes to AMA Muhith by placing a wreath at his coffin at the Central Shaheed Minar on behalf of the AL, Report BSS

“I saw very few workaholic persons like AMA Muhith. He used to stay absorbed in study and work. It was seen that the lights in Muhith’s office at the Secretariat were kept on even on holidays. He was such a workaholic person,” Quader said.

The minister said above all Muhith was a cent percent honest politician.

As finance minister, Muhith placed 12 budgets in parliament and of those, 10 were placed during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s tenure, he mentioned.

Awami League Presidium Member Begum Matia Chowdhury said Muhith was an enlightened personality not only in Bangladesh but also in the world.

He possessed humanitarian qualities and sense of responsibility, she said.

AL Presidium Members Abdur Razzaque, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Nurul Islam Nahid, Joint General Secretary and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan, Central Working Committee Members Reazul Kabir Kawser and Syed Abdul Awal Shamim were present on the occasion of paying homage to Muhith on behalf of the party.

Muhith breathed his last at 12:56 am today at the United Hospital in Dhaka at the age of 88.
