Teen gang-raped in India handed over to Bangladesh
Indian authorities have handed over the Bangladeshi teen girl, who was trafficked and sexually abused in Bangalore of India last year, to Bangladesh.
In addition, three more trafficked minors were also handed over to Bangladesh on Saturday.
Biplob Sarkar, deputy commissioner of Tejgaon zone, confirmed the matter to media.
The four trafficked girls were handed over to Bangladesh on Saturday the afternoon. A team of police from Dhaka went to bring them from Benapole in Jessore, Biplob Sarkar said.
Earlier on Friday, a special court in Bangalore, sentenced seven people to life in prison for raping the girl. Four more accused have been sentenced to different jail terms. The court convicted 11 of the 12 accused in the case, including three women.
Mohammad Rifadul Islam alias Hridoy Babu alias TikTok Hridoy, who was sentenced to life imprisonment, was accused of trafficking the girl. The victim’s father also filed a case against Ridoy with Dhaka’s Hatirjheel police station.
On 26 May last year, a video of the 22-year-old Bangladeshi girl being undressed and sexually abused was spread on Facebook. Soon after, the Bangalore police identified him in Kerala and rescued him from there and took him to Bangalore. The Assam Police of India announced the award by releasing the pictures of the five youths in the video. Later, Bangalore police arrested six people including two women in the incident. They were charged with rape and sexual assault.
Meanwhile, the police of Bangladesh identified Rifadul Islam alias TikTok Hridoy in the video through cyber patrol.
Immediately after the incident, it was learned that Rifadul and his associates had trafficked a large number of women to India with the promise of making a TikTok video and bringing star fame overnight. A teenage victim who was trafficked returned to the country and gave detailed information to the police.
