Two killed as truck turns turtle on Padma Bridge

In the latest accident on the country’s largest mega structure, two people were killed after after a truck carrying gas-cylinders overturned on Sunday night.

The deceased are Md Kawser, hailing from Shariatpur, and Md Raju Khandakar, a resident of Dhaka city.

Three others were also critically injured in the accident on the north viaduct of the Padma Bridge at the Mawa end, causing traffic to a grunding halt for more than an hour.

Asaduzzaman, duty doctor of emergency unit at Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex in Munshiganj, said the two died on the spot around 10pm.

Padma Bridge was inaugurated on June 25 and opened for public use the next morning with two people dying in an accident later in the day.
