14-party alliance leaders visit Narail

A team of Awami League-led 14-party alliance visited the Lohagara upazila of the district where religious bigots launched attacks on Hindu minorities following a Facebook post on July 15.

During the visit on Friday, they handed over Taka 10,000 among 10 victim families each and Taka 25,000 to four temples each.

Awami League Presidium Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya Bir Bikram, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASAD) President Hasanul Haq Inu, Workers Party General Secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha, Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua, AL Organizing Secretary SM Kamal Hossain and Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Delwar Hossain, among others, were present.

A view-exchange was held at Sarbajanin Radha Gavinda Mandir in Dighalia union.

Speaking at the meeting, Mofazzal Hossain said the government will take action against those who are involved in carrying out attacks at Hindu temples and houses.

He said an identified clique launched attacks in temples in Sahapara area of Lohagara.

He also said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government is committed to keep intact communal harmony in the country.

He assured that the 14-party leaders would stay beside the Hindu community.

Speaking on the occasion, Inu said the attack on Hindu community at Dighalia and Sahapara area is not an isolated incident rather it is a pre-planned one.

He demanded stern actions against the attackers.

He said anti-liberation forces carries out attacks on temples.

Inu said they would build resistance like 1971 against communal elements.
