Police yet to trace ‘muggers’ who stabbed SUST student dead

The law enforcers are yet to identify the ‘muggers’ who stabbed Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) student Md. Bulbul Ahmed (22) to death. Police failed to find any lead from Monday evening to 10 am Tuesday.

Protesting the murder and demanding security on campus premises the SUST students have declared to form a human chain around 11am. Besides, Bangladesh Chhatra League also announced the formation of a human chain around 12pm inside the campus.

Police said, when Bulbul was stabbed, there was a female student with him. But, she is losing her consciousness repeatedly after the incident making the revelation of the incident tough to know as she is the only witness. The law enforcers will talk to the girl once she feels fine.

Bulbul was hacked in the New Zealand area adjacent to Gazi-Kalu Tila beside the university Shaheed Minar. Later, she was rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College where the doctor pronounced him dead around 7:45 pm.

SUST registrar Muhammad Ishfaqul Hossain filed a murder case with Jalalabad police station later.
