5 distinguished women to receive Bangamata award

Five distinguished women have been nominated for ‘Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Padak-2022’ for their outstanding contributions to different fields.

They are: Syeda Zebunnesa Haque (Sylhet) in politics, lawmaker Selima Ahmed (Cumilla) in economics, Dhaka University former Pro-Vice Chancellor Nasreen Ahmad in education, Mst Achhia Alam (Kishoreganj) in social service and valiant freedom fighter of Gopalganj district Ashalata Baidya (commander during the Liberation War) in independence and Liberation War.

In a press conference, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira revealed the matter on Saturday (August 6).

The award giving ceremony will be held at Osmani Memorial Hall in the capital at 10:00am on Monday (August 8).

The state minister said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will virtually join the award giving programme as the chief guest from her official residence Ganabhaban.
