Fuel oil price to be adjusted by 1-2 days: State Minister

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said that the prices of fuel oil will be adjusted within next one or two days.

He said this while talking with the journalists at Secretariat in the capital on Monday.

The State Minister said, we will get some advantages in fuel oil import tariff. So, we are thinking that the fuel price can be adjusted.

Earlier on Sunday, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) waived entire advance tax on diesel aiming to cut import cost of the key gasoline item.

The NBR also reduced 5 per cent import duty from 10 per cent.

The reduced import tariff would remain effective until December 31, 2022.

On August 5, the government revised the prices of all fuel oils at the consumer level, raising the prices of petrol, diesel, octane and kerosene by almost 50 per cent.

The prices of diesel and kerosene were raised by 42.5 per cent to Tk 114 per litre from Tk 80, while the price of petrol was raised by 51.16 per cent to Tk 130 a litre from Tk 86.

The price of octane was raised by 51.68 per cent to Tk 135 per litre from Tk 89.
