Amit’s dedication to journalism will ever be remembered: Hasan Mahmud

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the ideology and dedication to journalism of late journalist Amit Habib would ever be remembered in the pages of the country’s mass media.

The minister said this while addressing a memorial meeting on the daily ‘Desh Rupantar’ founding editor Amit Habib at Chithrashala auditorium of Shilpakala Academy in the capital.

Dr. Hasan said every person has a story of his life. The person, who is called as mentally disordered,  also has a story of sorrow, but, the society has no time to look at him.

But, the minister said, the journalists open up the eyes of people to present their story. And Amit was one of them and he was also a creator of journalists, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

He said late Amit has enriched journalism and he was an inspiration of mass media.

The minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.

AL joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif joined the meeting and urged the young journalists to follow the ideology of late Amit Habib.

Eminent cultural personality Mamunur Rashid, Department of Film and Publication director general SM Golam Kibria, senior journalists Mangurul Ahsan Bulbul and Sukanto Gupta Alak, acting editor of the daily Mostafa Mamun, publisher Mahir Ali Khan Ratul and Amit’s younger brother Fayzul Haque Ranga, among others, addressed the meeting.

Amit had started his career as reporter and sub editor at Khabar Group of Publications in 1987. Later, he worked at the daily Kaler Kantha, the daily Somokal, the daily Jayjay Din, the daily Ajker Kagoj, the daily Bhorer Kagoj and weekly Purbabhash.
