Information Minister pays tribute to Toab Khan

Paying rich tribute to eminent journalist Toab Khan, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said Toab Khan was a legendary journalist in the history of Bangladesh.

“The writings of Toab Khan have benefitted our country and the nation as well. His death is not only an irreparable loss to journalism, but also for the whole nation,” he said, after paying wreaths on the coffin of late veteran journalist Toab Khan at Jatiya Press Club here.

The minister said Khan had played an outstanding role during the great Liberation War and he also worked in Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra. He worked for the country and the mass media after the independence, said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

He said Khan was press secretary to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Besides, he discharged duties as Principal Information Officer and director general of Press Institute. Khan was an uncompromising journalist, he added.

Hasan said the Dainik Bangla has declared to introduce ‘Toab Khan Smriti Padak’ as a mark of respect towards him.
