‘No contents on religious intolerance and gender inequality in textbooks’

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has asked the authorities concerned to remove anything that promotes religious intolerance and gender inequality from the textbooks.

She also instructed them not to consider any such contents for the new curriculum.

She said this while addressing the “revision and development of the textbook prepared for the new curriculum” programme on Tuesday.

She said: “Not only the religious intolerance but also the hate speech towards women in any way cannot be promoted and practiced. The stakeholders must maintain gender etiquette in textbook materials. It is also important that the history of the Liberation War be portrayed accurately.”

“Images that create controversy should not be used. The associated stakeholders must ensure appropriate use of images in textbooks,” she added.

She then endeavored to comment that how things can easily be displayed before the learners who deserve special attention.”
