Libya for joint commission to expand cooperation

Newly appointed Libyan Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdulmutalib S M Suliman today said his government is keen to form a joint commission with Dhaka to look after major areas of cooperation between Bangladesh and Libya.

He made the remarks while paying a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen at foreign ministry here, a foreign ministry press release said here.

During the meeting, the foreign minister underlined importance of continued cooperation in different sectors of mutual interest including promotion of trade and investment between the two countries.

He underlined importance of more contacts between the business persons and chamber officials.

He suggested collaboration may be forged in garments, pharmaceuticals and IT sectors and Libya may consider importing the products from Bangladesh including jute and other produced gods.

Both sides agreed to enhance institutional cooperation like holding Foreign Office Consultations and signing agreements.

Bangladesh foreign minister sought Libya’s continued cooperation in Rohingya issue.
