Pakistani journalist crushed to death by Imran Khan’s truck during rally
Imran Khan, former prime minister of Pakistan, called off his long march on Sunday after a female Pakistani journalist who was there to cover the event died after being crushed under his truck.
Sadaf Naeem, a correspondent for Channel Five, was identified as the deceased. The reporter fell off the truck near Sadhoke and was then run over by Khan’s container.
Khan was leading a march toward Islamabad when the tragedy happened, and he decided to stop it.
“Shocked & deeply saddened by the terrible accident that led to the death of Channel 5 reporter Sadaf Naeem during our March today,” Khan said in a tweet. “I have no words to express my sorrow. My prayers & condolences go to the family at this tragic time. We have cancelled our March for today.”
He also expressed his condolences to Naeem’s bereaved family, announcing a roughly $20,000 donation to her family.
