Russian strikes hit Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, several regions without electricity
Two residential buildings in the Ukraine capital were hit by missiles on Tuesday, the mayor of Kyiv said, following reports that air raid sirens were sounding in all regions of the Ukraine.
“There is an attack on the capital. According to preliminary information, two residential buildings were hit in the Pechersk district. Several missiles were shot down over Kyiv by air defence systems. Medics and rescuers are at the scene of the strikes. More details later,” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said in a statement on social media.
Following strikes on the capital Kyiv, Ukrainian cities of Lviv in the west and Kharkiv in the east were attacked as well by Russia on Tuesday, officials said.
“There are explosions in Lviv,” mayor Andriy Sadovy said in a statement on social media, calling on residents to stay in shelters, while Kharkiv’s mayor, Igor Terekhov, said there was a “missile attack” on the city and that information about any casualties was being determined.
The strikes caused electricity cuts in Kharkiv and Lviv, city officials said. In the eastern region of Sumy, officials announced electricity shutdowns, while in Rivne in the west, officials said Russian strikes targeted energy infrastructure resulting in outages.
