Massive employment opportunities and suitable atmosphere ensured

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tells the National Parliament on Wednesday 5th July that massive employment opportunities and suitable academic atmosphere ensured by her government to prevent brain drain from Bangladesh.

The Premier said, “Creation of massive employment in all sectors and establishment of new universities are preventing brain drain from Bangladesh.” She responds to a tabled question from the ruling party, Awami League lawmaker Habibur Rahman, of Sylhet-3 constituency, during the Prime Minister’s question-answer session at the National Parliament.

As a leader of the House, Sheikh Hasina said that at present the talented people of Bangladesh feel comfortable to work in the country, because the government ensured extensive development of information and communication technology (ICT) sector and high-speed internet connection.

She said that her government is valuing highly the talents of the talented people through awarding them various prizes, scholarships, stipends and employment in honorable profession.  The government deserves praise through evaluating the steps taken for talented people in their respective areas.

She added that brain drain in real sense is a difficult task in the current era of globalization, and it takes place in all the underdeveloped and developing countries. But yet because of dedication, sincerity and various effective measures taken by her government, Bangladesh’s brain drain is remaining at a controlled level.

To discourage the brain drain, the Premier said that her government is providing scholarships  and stipends to the talented people prioritizing merit in all recruitment processes, creating educational opportunities for talented students through establishing new universities. Prevention of brain drain is very important to uphold the quick development and modernization of Bangladesh.

“Government of Bangladesh is aware of this issue and taking efforts to prevent brain drain through creating suitable atmosphere. And working tirelessly to ensure orderly, safe and responsible migration,” Sheikh Hasina mentioned, while she response to a query of ruling party lawmaker Afzal Hossain, elected from Kishoreganj-5. She informed the Parliament that more than 1.49 crore Bangladeshi workers are working in 176 countries at present. And around one million female workers availed employment opportunities abroad in the last 12 years.
