Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen to visit Indonesia, Thailand on July 12-17

Foreign Minister of Bangladesh AK Abdul Momen is scheduled to visit Jakarta, Indonesia and Bangkok, Thailand from July 12 to 17 to join separate events.

According to an official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister is scheduled to leave Dhaka for Jakarta on Tuesday night.

He will take part the ASEAN Regional Forum in Jakarta and a retreat in Bangkok on July 17 that will be hosted by Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). And to exchange views on regional issues and to move the 25-year old organization forward.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join the next BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, Thailand in November this year.  The sixth BIMSTEC Summit will be held in November 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand, and Bangladesh will assume the chairmanship of the regional group.

Momen is scheduled to return home on July 18.
