Awami League will deal with BNP if it resorts to violence: Obaidul Quader
Obaidul Quader, Awami League General Secretary today, Wednesday, July 26 said BNP will have to take responsibility if the peaceful environment is destroyed and public safety is disrupted in the name of their movement.
In a statement issued today, Obaidul Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said, “We call upon the BNP to refrain from such conspiracy and face people by participating in the elections. Bangladesh Awami League will deal with them (BNP) if they try to carry out any kind of terrorism and violence in the name of movement.”
The Minister also condemned and protested the “misleading” and “motivated” political speech of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
In the statement, Obaidul Quader said history testifies that the main tools of BNP’s politics are terrorism and lies. Military dictator Ziaur Rahman, the founder of BNP, seized state power in an unconstitutional and illegal manner by misrepresenting the spirit of the Liberation War and democratic values.
He said, “BNP has always been an evil political entity that goes against public opinion. BNP and its allies have repeatedly disrupted the democratic progress of this country. The party’s only aim is to seize power by instilling fear in the public mind and holding the people hostage.” The statement was issued a day before BNP’s grand rally in Dhaka.
