Books worth Tk 60crore sold at Ekushey Book Fair of Bangla Academy

The Amar Ekushey Book Fair in Dhaka concluded on Saturday (March 2), with selling books worth more than Tk 60 crore, which was Tk 13 crore more than last year. Books worth Tk 47 crore were sold at the last Ekushey Book Fair.

In addition, a total of 3,751 new books were published in the book fair while the number of published books was 3,730 last year.

Shahed Montaz, deputy director of Bangla Academy, provided the information at the closing ceremony of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair on Saturday afternoon.

Prime Minister’s Advisor on Education and Culture Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury joined the programme as the chief guest with Bangla Academy President novelist Selina Hossain in the chair.

Besides, Bangla Academy Director General delivered the welcome speech while newly appointed State Minister for Cultural Affairs Nahid Izahar Khan joined as the guest of honour and Cultural Affairs Secretary Khalil Ahmed was the special guest.
