2 Nazrul varsity teachers sent on compulsory leave

Two teachers of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) in Mymensingh have been sent on compulsory leave for an indefinite period over sexually harassing a female student.

The teachers are — Prof Rezuan Ahmed Shuvra, head of the Human Resources and Management Department, and Sajon Saha, assistant professor of the same department.

Rezuan Ahmed Shuvra has also been removed as the department’s head. The university Proctor Sanjay Kumar Mukharjee on Wednesday afternoon acknowledged the matter to media.

However, the students locked all the departments demanding expulsion of the two teachers.

A female student of the 13th batch at the Department of Human Resource Management of the University has raised allegations of harassment and exploitation against Assistant Professor Sajon Saha.

According to her, the harassment began in 2019, and she received various inappropriate messages from Sajon until November 2021. Despite the department’s head being aware of the situation, the student claimed no action was taken against the teacher in this regard.
