Bodies of two missing children recovered from Padma

The bodies of two children, who went missing while bathing in the Padma river at Bagha upazila in Rajshahi district on Sunday morning, were recovered on Monday morning, after 23 hours of the incident.

The deceased were identified as Jannati Khatun, 9, daughter of Abul Kashem, hailed from Daulatpur upazila in Kushtia, and Jhilik Khatun, 10, daughter of Monir Uddin, from Joydebpur upazila in Chuadanga district.

According to the family members, the duo came to Choumadia Maniker Char area under Chakrajapur union of the upazila on Friday to attend in a wedding programme.

Later on Sunday, the duo went missing when they went down to the river to take bath.


On information, divers from nearby Fire Service Station operated rescue operation but failed to locate them after seven hours of attempt.

Around 10am On Monday, locals spotted the bodies of the missing children were floating in the river and informed police.

Abdur Rahman, member of ward no-2 under Chakrajapur union, confirmed the matter and said on information, police  have recovered the bodies and handed over to the families after taking legal actions.
