Canada-bound Biman’s flight makes emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal Intl Airport Dhaka

A Canada-bound flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Tuesday morning made emergency landing at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka just after returning from Indian skies due to technical faults. There were 284 passengers on board the flight.

Sources at Biman Bangladesh Airlines said on Tuesday that Biman’s Toronto flight (BG-305) took off from Dhaka at 4:02am on Tuesday for Istanbul in Turkey. The flight was scheduled to leave for Toronto taking fuel from Istanbul. But, when the technical glitches appeared in the aircraft in the sky of Lucknow of India, the pilot decided returning to the country. The flight made an emergency landing on Dhaka at 6:45am.

Later at about 11:00am, the flight left Dhaka airport with passengers on board for Istambul. After landing on Istanbul Airport in time, the flight left for Toronto of Canada.

Contacted, an official of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, preferring anonymity, said the pilot witnessed a “small technical fault” after the flight took off from Dhaka. He didn’t want to take risk. Instantly, he decided to return to Dhaka. Then the flight left Dhaka again for Toronto in Canada via Istanbul.
